Holly River Bath and Body
Nature's Skin Care Products and Miller's Milled Soap

Holly River Bath and Body

Welcome to our world! We are the Millers. We live in Central West Virginia in the heart of the Appalachians along the Left Fork Holly River. I became a "stay at home Mom" when our two daughters were born and as they get older and more involved with school activities, I'm finding the need to also become more involved in my things, mostly making homemade skin care products, income tax preparation/bookkeeping, and volunteering for various community improvement organizations. My husband works full time outside the home. Our daughters are in middle and high school and both are members of their bands.

In the beginning, we were just making our own soaps for our personal use and for gifts. Then we tried hand cream and have been hooked on it ever since! Our hand and body creams are very light, creamy, smooth, and leave you feeling silky. We use common household ingredients when possible. Most of our products are made using only four (4) ingredients!

We believe in using pure, natural ingredients in all of our products. We felt challenged in our efforts to produce a product that had an easy to read list of ingredients. We also do NOT use any petroleum products as they sometimes tend to have a drying effect on the skin.

Our beef tallow is obtained from a West Virginia source. We render our tallow twice for a purer tallow. The basic soap is made using the cold-process method and is allowed to cure 3-4 weeks. We then hand mill the basic soap and allow that to cure another 3-4 weeks. This is then remelted and we add our scents and other natural ingredients. This must again cure for 3-4 more weeks prior to packaging and sale. It takes at least three months for our soap to be ready for you to use.

We grow Witch Hazel on our property and make our own Witch Hazel tea or use in our soap. Therefore; our Witch Hazel Tea does not have any alcohol as the commercial Witch Hazel does. We strive to obtain ingredients that have been extracted using pressing rather than chemicals.

Our bath are made using baking soda, cornstarch, sea salt, and citric acid (commonly found in foods). The soda and citric acid make a slight fizz which helps disburse the fragrance into the water. The soda and sea salt softens the water. The cornstarch leaves your skin with a wonderful silky feeling! We really enjoy using our fizzing bath salts and hope you will also enjoy using them!

Currently, we sell out of our workshop in our home, through the mail, phone orders, email, and craft shows throughout the State of West Virginia. This is our first attempt at web sales, please bear with us as we move into the world wide web!
